The DR650 arrives in the beginning of 1990 in two different versions: DR650 Djebel (also called DR650R Dakar on some markets) and DR650RS. The appearence of the bikes are quite different but they shared the same mechanics. The most obvious differences between the models are that the Djebel (DR650R) didn't have the RS model's fairing and it had a dirt bike styled higher front mudguard.
