In 2001, Yamaha introduced the FJR 1300 model, a sport-tourer designed to replace the outdated FJ 1200. Although the FJR 1300 was intended as a successor, it represents a completely new development, unrelated to previous FJ1100/FJ1200 models.

 

This motorcycle was initially positioned by Yamaha as a leading sport-tourer, aimed at export, primarily to Europe and North America. In addition to these regions, the Yamaha FJR 1300 was officially sold in some other countries, including Oceania and South Africa.
