The Yamaha FZ1 utilizes an inline 4-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine borrowed from the Yamaha YZF-R1 sportbike. However, it underwent significant revisions to reduce peak power and increase torque in the low and mid-range. Depending on the generation, the maximum power ranges from 143 to 150 horsepower, and the peak torque is 106 Nm. The engine demonstrates its best characteristics in the 7500-10000 RPM range.

 

Key features of the Yamaha FZ1 include an aluminum frame (from 2006 onwards), fully adjustable sport suspension, powerful 4-piston brake calipers similar to those on the Yamaha YZF-R1, optional ABS (from 2006 onwards), a 6-speed gearbox, and a wet weight of 214 kg.
