In 2010, at the EICMA Milan Motorcycle Show, Honda announced a new model - the VFR800X Crossrunner, with serial production starting in 2011. This motorcycle was developed with a focus on the Japanese, European, and Australian markets.
The creation of the Crossrunner was Honda's response to the growing demand for crossovers - versatile motorcycles combining on-road comfort with the ability to handle roads of varying quality. The Honda VFR800F sport-tourer was chosen as the base for the new model.
The initial versions of the Crossrunner featured relatively short suspension travel and low ground clearance. However, starting in 2014, the motorcycle underwent significant changes affecting both its appearance and engine. The updated model became taller, gained increased ground clearance, new suspension with longer travel, and more effective radial brakes. It was this modernization that endowed the Honda VFR800X Crossrunner with the qualities of a true crossover and made it one of the most interesting models in its class.
At the heart of the Honda VFR800X Crossrunner is a 782cc liquid-cooled, 4-cylinder V-engine that produces 102 hp of power and 74 Nm of torque. After the 2014 upgrade, thanks to an increase in the compression ratio, the engine's power increased to 106 hp, and the torque to 75 Nm. This engine was borrowed from the Honda VFR800F model and was not a new development.
